What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full-Time Health Center Housekeeper position at United Presbyterian Home?
The Health Center Housekeeper performs scheduled housekeeping duties in the United Presbyterian Home's 55-bed nursing facility with the purpose of providing a clean, safe & welcoming home-like environment for our residents. The ideal candidate will be able to follow directions, work as a team with all departments and work within state and federal regulations the UP Home is required to follow.
General Functions:
- Performs daily cleaning duties of resident rooms, restrooms and general areas including vacuuming and mopping.
- Comes to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrates dependability and punctuality, following attendance policies.
- Reports for work with clean and neat personal appearance, consistently presenting a professional image.
- Maintains confidentiality of resident, employee and facility information.
- Accepts assigned duties, instructions, or correction in a cooperative manner, voicing concerns or disagreement in a professional manner through established chain of command.
- Assumes accountability for compliance with Federal, State and other regulations.
- Observes safety hazards and emergency situations, and reports to appropriate person or takes corrective action according to establish procedures, works safely without danger to self or others.
- Participates in in-service training programs and completes assignments and return demonstrations as required.
- Assume accountability for using, maintaining and storing facility property according to established policy.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Job Functions:
- Performs general cleaning tasks such as dusting, sweeping, window washing, vacuuming carpets, cleaning upholstery, cleaning light fixtures, and cleaning bathroom fixtures.
- Performs floor care such as dust-mopping, wet-mopping, spot-mopping and buffing.
- Empties trash containers, replaces liners as appropriate and disposes of trash in proper receptacles, observing infectious and biohazard waste disposal procedures as appropriate.
- Fills soap dispensers and paper towel dispensers. Dispenses tissue and other supplies to resident rooms and general use areas.
- Practices infection control and other preventive and protective safety procedures as instructed.
- Uses equipment according to instructions and while observing proper precautions; reports any equipment issues to their supervisor
- Reports repair needs to supervisor or maintenance department as appropriate.
- Other housekeeping or support services or projects as assigned by supervisor.
- Functional literacy in written and spoken English.
- Ability to routinely engage in physical activities while cleaning/straightening resident rooms and common areas, retrieving items from on floors, closets or under beds, cleaning dining chairs and other furnishings/equipment.
- Lifts/pushes/pulls housekeeping carts, mop buckets, dumps mop buckets, pours from containers of chemicals.
- Follows guidelines to safely lift/move equipment, climb on step stools or service ladders, lifting and carrying as described above.
- Engages in stooping, kneeling and/or crouching several times each work shift while cleaning floors and under furniture, retrieving dropped items, replenishing supplies and chemicals.
- Recognizes and knows how to respond to operational sounds of equipment and auditory signals or alarms, wanderer monitoring system signal.
- Routinely observes for odors relevant to maintaining a clean, pleasant environment.
- Ability to act professionally at all times with respect and dignity for residents, staff and family members.
