What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping & Receiving Associate position at United Mechanical?
Shipping/Receiving Associates are responsible for safely and efficiently loading/unloading materials to/from our warehouse and various vendors, as well as maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the warehouse, and all common use areas.
Responsibilities
- Verifies incoming shipments against packing slips and order forms
- Assist with loading materials i.e., prefabricated materials, tools, safety supplies, and stored materials from vendors onto vehicles for transit
- Efficiently and safely unload vendor materials from trucks as they arrive at the shop
- Organize and mark incoming materials for storage
- Maintain shipping and receiving documentation, including receiving logs and packing slips
- Data entry of shipping and receiving information into company log using SmartSheet
- Maintain yard for cleanliness and safety standards e.g. sweeping, dumping garbage, and organizing materials/tools
- Suggest and support process improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and safety
- Work overtime/weekends if needed
Qualifications
- Good verbal and customer service skills
- Good organization skills
- Entry level experience with high pressure situations and/or tight deadlines
- Entry level data entry experience
- Entry level knowledge of safety standards
- Unexpired, state-issued driver's license
- Experience in warehousing, inventory management, shipping/receiving, manufacturing, or heavy machinery operation preferred
- Experience operating a forklift (preferred)
- Experience with Excel and/or Smartsheet preferred
- Ability to lift and/or move up to fifty [50] pounds
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time, work in various weather conditions (rain or shine).
