About the Role - What You’ll Do
Prepare and load all final product shipments and unload and inspect incoming shipments while ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance with company, DOT, and regulatory standards.
Area of Responsibility 1: Order Preparation and Outbound Shipping
- Accurately stack and pull orders from inventory and stage for shipment
- Ensure all orders are properly stacked and wrapped for transit
- Record lot numbers and quantities on pick sheets and submit to shipping supervisor
- Mark each order with appropriate carrier and ship date
- Assist with special customer labeling or coding requirements
- Properly load outgoing orders onto designated carriers
- Organize shipments to maximize trailer space utilization and ensure compliance with weigh station requirements
- Ensure all outgoing shipments display appropriate placards
- Process shipments in SAP to generate Bills of Lading (BOLs), Certificates of Analysis (COAs), and packing lists
- Verify outgoing orders for accuracy and apply address labels and packing lists
- Submit signed Bills of Lading for outgoing shipments to the front office following carrier pickup
Area of Responsibility 2: Receiving and Inventory Control
- Unload and inspect incoming shipments for damage and verify product accuracy and quantities
- Submit packing lists and carrier Bills of Lading for inbound shipments to the front office
- Inspect forklift and complete inspection checklist at the beginning of each shift
- Participate in daily, monthly, and annual inventory control activities
- Maintain accurate paperwork for all incoming and outgoing shipments
- Participate in the training of shipping and receiving staff
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Assist other departments as needed and perform additional duties as assigned by the Shipping/Receiving Supervisor
- Maintain a proactive safety mindset and participate in safety meetings and training
- Follow all company safety protocols during loading, unloading, and material handling
- Accurately fill orders to meet customer requirements
- Ensure documentation accuracy and compliance with company, regulatory, and customer standards
- Support ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and Responsible Care Programs
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- Forklift certification
- Hazmat handling training
- DOT training
- Ability to lift up to 55 pounds and safely navigate congested work environments
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Working knowledge of relevant computer applications
- Ability to understand verbal and written communication
- Basic math skills and ability to distinguish color
- Fluent in English (reading and writing)
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime
- Ability to wear appropriate PPE
- Warehouse setting requiring physical activity such as climbing stairs, lifting, and operating material-handling equipment
- Exposure to fast-paced shipping and receiving operations
