Biomedical Equipment Technician
What You Will Do In This Role
- Responsible for servicing medical equipment, primarily infusion IV pumps. Performing annual preventative maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical devices, and performing appropriate repairs on those pieces of equipment.
- Properly documenting the repairs, estimates, and time spent on each piece of equipment.
- Works independently on repairs, safety testing, and preventive maintenance (PM) of general clinical equipment.
- Maintains records, writes reports, and coordinates outside repairs.
- Knowledge of practices and procedures, methods, tools, and materials used in the use, repair, and maintenance of clinical equipment.
- Demonstrates competency related to the use of testing equipment used in maintenance and troubleshooting of clinical equipment.
- Demonstrates competency related to the use of service and repair manuals including an understanding of operating instruction, service diagrams, flow charts, and schematics.
- Provides technical support to customers, as needed.
What You Will Need For This Role
- At least 1 year of previous experience working with biomedical equipment in a clinical engineering environment is preferred.
- Prior experience in performing biomedical equipment repair services.
- Able to read, analyze, and interpret technical literature, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Demonstrates team attitude and shows respect for others.
- Proactive and self-motivated.
- Possesses quality orientation with a “get it right the first time” attitude.
- Able to work with limited supervision.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment.

- Maintains adequate and accurate inventory.
- Ability to read color codes on wiring and electrical components.
- Working knowledge of Gmail, Word, Excel, and Google applications.

- Maintain accurate service and time-keeping records.
What Skill You Will Use In This Role
- High School Diploma required
- Associate's Degree or higher (electronics, mechanical engineering, or biomedical equipment technology) preferred – completed or anticipated graduation within 6 months.
- Current, or willingness to obtain, AAMI Certification as a CBET strongly preferred
- Military training and/or equivalent experience will also be considered
- Prior work experience in a hospital setting preferred
