General Expectations
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for UEC’s Temporary Works practice
- Direct and manage all current projects, staff, and operational performance of the Practice
- Grow client relationships and expand technical capabilities across markets
- Establish technical standards and continuously develop staff
- Position UEC as a recognized industry leader in temporary works engineering
- Foster a culture of accountability, technical rigor, and safety
- Deliver practical, constructible solutions aligned with contractor needs
- Accountable for overall performance, delivery, and profitability of the Temporary Works Practice
- Lead, mentor, and continue developing the team of engineers and designers delivering temporary works services across multiple concurrent projects and regions
- Own planning, staffing, and resource allocation to meet project schedules and client commitments
- Ensure all deliverables meet UEC’s standards for technical excellence, constructability, and schedule
- Serve as the technical authority for temporary works engineering within the firm, guiding design approaches and resolving complex challenges
- Define technical direction, standards, and best practices
- Provide Technical and Constructability Reviews of all projects
- Provide on-Site Design Engineering Support and Inspections when necessary
- Coordinate with Superintendents, Forman, Project Managers/Engineers and Owners to resolve issues
- Oversee project financial performance including invoicing, utilization, backlog forecasting, and margin management
- Lead business development efforts including client engagement, proposal strategy, and pursuit of major opportunities.
- Build a high-performing team through mentoring, training, and succession planning
- 12 years of relevant Temporary Works Engineering experience
- Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams or managing a technical group, managing project budgets, schedules, and client relationships
- Deep expertise in temporary works such as falsework, erection engineering, shoring, demolition planning, or construction engineering
- Experience supporting major infrastructure projects (bridges, tunnels, marine, industrial, or large structural works)
- Ability to schedule, manage, and deliver multiple tasks concurrently
- Strong communication skills and ability to operate with autonomy and ownership
- PE licensure required
- Prior experience scaling or building a temporary works group a plus
- Background experience with major contractors or temporary works firms is a plus
