The General Manager will oversee all aspects of a location’s day-to-day operations; the person is the ‘sunrise and sunset’ for the entire business. The GM will drive growth, performance metrics, create an amazing workplace culture and develop all staff and management, constantly striving to be a world-class operator and helping others to do the same. They will own the full operating P&L of their location and will be responsible for driving organic growth of the business.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities (Other Duties May Be Assigned)
Leadership & People Management
- Direct oversight and management of all employees, including ongoing skill development.
- Develop a highly motivated and valued workforce by directing and facilitating training that fosters a learning environment and efficient work processes.
- Conduct performance reviews for all team members.
- Assist with the onboarding and orientation of new hires.
- Build meaningful relationships with Customer Service Representatives and Warehouse Associates.
- Work with various members of the Executive Team regarding production standards, customer service standards, safety training, human resources investigations, accounting tasks, and data reporting.
- Develop market strategy and collaborate with sales representatives to target potential customers.
- Help grow the business by communicating with customers about their needs and identifying opportunities to meet those needs.
- Maintain a high level of customer service resulting in strong market penetration for door and operator products.
- Make personal sales calls to current and target accounts at places of business, job sites, or residences.
- Handle all customer complaints quickly and professionally.
- Be familiar with and assist in credit policies and help monitor customers’ current credit status.
- Assist with product and/or installation warranty issues, including visually inspecting, operating, and testing products on-site or in the field.
- Maintain sufficient inventory levels to meet existing and potential demand.
- Perform all duties necessary to ensure the financial and operational success of the facility, including shipping, receiving, deliveries, paper flow, product procurement, inventory control and organization, administrative tasks, and customer service.
- Ensure all compliance paperwork is up to date.
- Achieve budgeted sales and profit margin goals by evaluating expenditures and maintaining all controllable expenses within monthly and annual budget guidelines.
- Regularly provide and receive feedback on current methods, continuous improvements, status updates, and KPIs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Leadership is essential in this role. A demonstrated ability to lead a team, set a great example and hold others accountable to high standards.
- A minimum of 5 years management experience in a warehouse, light industrial, or similar industry OR a minimum of 5 years post military experience of demonstrated P&L ownership and growth
