Position Overview
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and high-energy Quality Engineer to join their premier forging facility. In this role, you will be the guardian of product integrity, ensuring that high-performance aerospace components meet the stringent standards of the FAA and our global aerospace partners.
You will bridge the gap between production and compliance, utilizing data-driven insights to minimize non-conformances and drive continuous improvement in a heavy-industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Planning & Compliance: Develop and maintain Inspection Plans, Quality Control Plans, and AS9100 documentation. Ensure all forging processes align with customer specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Root Cause Analysis: Lead investigations into internal and external non-conformances using standard methodologies (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone). Implement robust corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- NPI & APQP: Support New Product Introduction by managing PPAP submissions, performing First Article Inspections (FAI per AS9102), and conducting Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
- Supplier & Floor Support: Work directly with the forge shop floor to troubleshoot issues in real-time. Assist in auditing sub-tier suppliers (heat treat, NDT, etc.) to ensure raw material and process integrity.
- Continuous Improvement: Utilize Lean Six Sigma tools to reduce scrap rates and improve yield. Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and present quality metrics to senior leadership.
- Audit Management: Serve as a primary point of contact for AS9100, Nadcap, and customer-specific audits.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience: 2 years of quality engineering experience within a manufacturing environment (Aerospace, Automotive, or Heavy Industrial preferred).
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of AS9100 Rev D and ISO 9001 standards.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and interpreting GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Familiarity with metallurgy, forging processes, or thermal processing.
- Certifications: ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Green/Black Belt in Six Sigma is a significant plus.
