The NPD Engineer will lead the design and development of new plastic products from concept to production. Responsibilities:
- Manage and execute work for new product development projects, quality/reliability projects, and cost improvement programs that involve design and application of plastic components.
- Interact directly with Quality and Manufacturing teams to effectively contribute to new product development and ensure product reliability.
- Interact with raw material suppliers, internal and external molders, and mold builders to coordinate and manage the external deliverables through the product development process.
- Use appropriate test methods in designing parts, selecting appropriate manufacturing materials and processes, and writing test plans to ensure that the product meets or exceeds customers’ requirements.
- Manages timelines for design, fabrication, and qualification of plastic/composite products.
- Facilitate technical design reviews as part of the new product development process and facilitate design reviews with external suppliers for tooling and molding of plastic/composite products.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Engineering or similar area of focus with minimum 2 years of new product development in the plastics industry; co-op experience will be considered.
- Design knowledge, and application experience with thermoplastic and thermoset materials
- Process knowledge for injection molding, extrusion, structural foam molding, blow molding, rotational molding, and thermoforming (single and twin sheet) processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Program/project management skills with an understanding of stage gate product development processes.
- Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills to resolve technical issues.
- Pro/ENGINEER CREO (version 12)– Surfacing and large assembly modeling experience.
Salary : $100,000 - $115,000
