The summer 2026 Cybersecurity Intern plays a vital role in supporting UE’s Information Security team with daily security operations, threat monitoring, and involvement in security-focused projects. This internship is specifically designed for students who are seeking practical experience using industry-standard security tools, participating in incident response activities, and learning effective risk management techniques within a professional setting.
Throughout the internship, individuals will collaborate closely with UE’s SOC team, and IT Cloud Engineers professionals. This teamwork aims to enhance UE’s overall security posture while allowing interns to build valuable skills in areas such as threat detection, vulnerability analysis, and the operation of secure technologies.
As a Cybersecurity Intern, you will gain practical, hands-on experience in real-world cybersecurity operations that will strengthen your resume and develop your professional skill set. You will receive mentoring from experienced cybersecurity professionals, providing guidance and insights into the field. This role offers exposure to enterprise-level security technologies and operational processes, deepening your understanding of the tools and strategies used to protect organizations. Responsibilities:
Security Operations & Monitoring
- Assist with daily review of security alerts, logs, and dashboards.
- Help triage, investigate, and document potential security incidents.
- Support continuous monitoring of endpoints, networks, and cloud environments.
- Contribute to maintaining safety and security of organizational assets.
- Participate in vulnerability scanning and assessment activities.
- Track remediation progress and assist with communication to IT teams.
- Research emerging threats, CVEs, and mitigation strategies.
- Stay informed about the evolving threat landscape.
- Contribute to updates of policy and procedure documentation.
- Assist with developing content for security awareness programs.
- Support compliance efforts related to the NIST CSF 2.0 framework.
- Help ensure adherence to established security standards.
- Help configure and maintain cybersecurity tools (SIEM, EDR, SASE, MFA)
- Assist with access reviews and updating asset inventories
- Support audit preparation activities
- Contribute to overall organizational security readiness
- Currently pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- Foundational understanding of cybersecurity concepts (malware, phishing, networks, encryption)
- Familiarity with Windows, macOS, and/or cloud environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
