The Specialist reviews documentation, satisfies underwriting conditions, and prepares closing packages for both real estate and non-real estate secured loans. Ideal candidates bring strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a solid understanding of consumer lending regulations.
What You’ll Do
- Coordinate and monitor all stages of the loan closing process.
- Review and interpret third-party documents including appraisals, title work, flood determinations, and insurance.
- Ensure all underwriting conditions are met and documented.
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders including lenders, attorneys, title companies, and vendors.
- Prepare and review loan documentation for accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure timely follow-up to meet service level agreements.
- Support compliance with all regulatory and internal policy requirements.
- Provide exceptional customer service and foster a collaborative team environment.
- 1–2 years of experience in a financial institution, with a focus on due diligence or loan documentation.
- 1 years of consumer loan documentation experience.
- Experience in an automated loan origination environment is highly desirable.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
- Strong knowledge of consumer lending, loan documentation, and regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with third-party documents such as title work, appraisals, and insurance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience with banking systems such as Meridian Link, 360 View, LaserPro, TruStage, Navigator, and UCBI systems.
- Completion of Loan Closing Specialist Certification Program (Level I).
- Understanding of complex credit structures and multiple funding sources.
- Knowledge of fair lending practices and regulations (CIP, Reg H, HMDA, CRA, Reg O).
- Ability to calculate Loan-to-Value ratios and assess insurance adequacy.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background & credit check
- This is a full-time, non-remote position
