What are the responsibilities and job description for the Healthy Families Supervisor position at United Community Action Network?

The Healthy Families Supervisor provides supervision to Healthy Families Family Support Specialists and ensures services to families are centered on the research-based national Healthy Families America goals as well as Oregon Healthy Families’ legislated goals.  Assists Program Manager with and/or provides assistance to staff in crisis and emergency situations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

The essential functions of this position require prioritizing and completing all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner, adjusting for changing priorities and availability of resources, and demonstrating initiative in identifying additional job-related tasks to be completed when time permits.  These duties are a representative example of position expectations.  Actual duties assigned may vary and change depending on the business needs of the department and the agency.

  • Accepts referrals, conducts screening if necessary and distributes referrals to Family Support Specialists where appropriate and to other community resources as necessary.
  • Provide Family Support Specialist with administrative, clinical and reflective supervision weekly, including implementation of home visits, strength based approaches, referral to related community resources, interventions and goal planning for high-risk parents. Includes monitoring of written documentation, home visits, integration of results of tools used (ASQ,etc.), integration of quality assurance results, guidance on use of approved curriculum, monitor maintenance of professional boundaries, training needs and areas of growth, and completion of various job requirements in a timely fashion. Monitors data submission to NPC research for the Healthy Families team.
  • Inform the Program Manager of staff achievements, issues, and concerns. Writes staff annual performance evaluations. Plans and facilitates staff meetings in collaboration with Program Manager. Meets with Program Manager monthly for required supervision.
  •  Assists with hiring and interviewing, recommends such actions as disciplines or discharging; provides staff orientation and training, monitors progress on Professional Development Plan, evaluates staff training needs.
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality of information pertaining to families, personnel issues, and other program operations. Report suspected cases of child abuse and neglect.
  • Assures program is meeting Oregon Performance Indicators and maintaining HFA accreditation standards by meeting ongoing quality assurance tasks set by HFA/HFO and the Program Manager. Assist program manager in HFO plans and analyses.
  • Communicate in a professional, respectful and courteous manner with all employees, clients, the Board of Directors, and others with whom we may work. Contribute to a successful work group and foster a team-oriented culture through positive interactions, active listening, meaningful collaborations, and the constructive exchange of ideas.
  • Represent the program to the public and other agencies and interpret policies and procedures.  Coordinate services with contract providers.  Coordinate partnerships with higher education institutes, local school districts and other early learning partners and agencies. Participates in regular staff meetings, in-service training, formal training and other community meetings, as appropriate.
  • Drive a company vehicle in the performance of duties.  Driving will be required for travel to client homes, and to perform other essential functions as needed.
  • Complete designated job tasks, special projects and all other duties as assigned to meet team, department and agency goals while actively demonstrating accountability, high levels of employee engagement, and responsibility for achieving desired outcomes and measurable results.
