Overview
Unite Contracting is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Structural Welder to join our manufacturing and construction team. Duties
- Perform structural welding using FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding) and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) processes on diverse metal materials.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to ensure accurate assembly and welding of components.
- Utilize power tools, plasma cutters, and gas metal arc welding equipment for cutting, shaping, and assembling sheet metal and structural components.
- Follow safety protocols rigorously during all phases of fabrication and welding operations to maintain a safe work environment.
- Fabricate metal structures for construction projects, including supports, frames, and other assemblies requiring precise fitting.
- Operate cranes and mechanical fabrication equipment to position heavy components accurately for welding or assembly.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure project deadlines are met while adhering to American Welding Society (AWS) standards.
Experience
- Proven construction site experience with a focus on structural steel fabrication and welding.
- Demonstrated proficiency in multiple welding techniques including FCAW and SMAW.
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading, mechanical blueprint interpretation, and technical drawing analysis.
- Familiarity with measuring and shop math for precise fabrication.
- Experience working with metal materials in a manufacturing or construction environment.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to welding operations and construction sites.
- Ability to operate power tools, machining equipment, plasma cutters, and other fabrication machinery effectively.
- Prior experience working in a fabrication shop or construction setting involving metal fabrication tasks.
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to assembly processes involving structural components.
- Familiarity with AWS standards for welding quality assurance.
