Job Description
Unity Youth Services is seeking a compassionate and reliable Community Engagement Specialist / Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support youth in the Petersburg community. This role focuses on providing hands-on, community-based support to help youth build life skills, confidence, and independence.
This position offers flexibility within standard daytime hours. We are looking to fill coverage between 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, whether full-time or part-time.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to youth in community-based settings
- Assist with daily living skills, social development, and goal achievement
- Engage youth in meaningful, age-appropriate activities
- Follow individualized service plans (ISP) and document services provided
- Maintain professionalism while building positive relationships with youth and families
- Support a safe, structured, and encouraging environment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience working with youth preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and in community settings
- Reliable transportation and updated auto insurance
Preferred (Not Required)
- CPR & First Aid Certification
- Experience with individuals with IDD or behavioral health needs
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care or de-escalation techniques
Schedule
- Flexible scheduling between 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
