The Specialist serves as the first point of contact for EHR support needs and collaborates with IT leadership, EHR Analysts, and clinical teams to maintain optimal system performance and user satisfaction. This position provides general IT technical assistance, including workstation setup, software installation, hardware maintenance, and routine troubleshooting for Windows-based environments. The Specialist documents issues, follows established procedures, and escalates complex requests as needed.
Key Responsibilities & Role Highlights:
- Respond to general support requests with professionalism and urgency.
- Assist with the maintenance and troubleshooting of telehealth solutions, including associated hardware and user accounts.
- Consult with staff to determine needed workstation hardware and request approvals per agency procedures.
- Assist with maintaining accurate documentation including Standard Operating Procedures, How-To material, and IT asset inventory.
- Support all efforts to ensure operational efficiency, data and organizational security, privacy, and configuration standards.
- Collaborate with IT team members and external partners to ensure efficient operation and timely issue escalation.
- Provide backup support to other IT roles as needed.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Health Informatics, Computer Science, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience or technical certifications acceptable.
- Experience providing technical support for EHR systems (user support, troubleshooting, basic configuration) preferred.
- Familiarity with SQL, reporting, or willingness to learn basic concepts.
- A working knowledge of Windows operating systems, desktop/laptop hardware, and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience with hardware installation, networking fundamentals, and workstation maintenance a plus.
- Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) with users of varying technical skill levels.
- Strong customer service orientation; patient, detail-oriented, and able to follow established procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot logically, document issues thoroughly, and maintain confidentiality.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; ability to travel between sites as necessary.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
