POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for assisting in an authoritative capacity in the provisions for the security and protection of all students, staff and property.
QUALIFICATIONS: To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill, and/or ability necessary.
- Ability to communicate with students and staff. Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
- Ability to use security techniques and procedures.
- Ability to interpret, analyze, and problem solve; detailed written and verbal communications.
- Possess a high school diploma or college degree.
- Possess a current and valid driver’s license.
- Candidates should possess experience in law enforcement or security fields.
- Experience within an educational environment would be helpful.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Employee must have the ability to perform the following essential functions on a timely basis with or without reasonable accommodations. To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Monitor school buildings and grounds to prevent theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.
- Report any unusual conditions of malfunctioning systems throughout the buildings.
- Monitor school grounds to detect unauthorized persons or vehicles; check cars for parking authorization; determine if vehicles are parked in restricted areas, and check emergency access routes.
- Make reports of security violations.
- Help to maintain order in hallways during the passing of classes, before and after school, and lunches.
- Provide aid and help with defective student lockers.
- Continually check lavatories for vandalism and graffiti, smoking and violations of rules.
- Contribute to the effective team management of all security-related problems, issues, and opportunities.
- Check areas of school buildings other than high school that are in the complex.
- Assist with traffic on campus as needed.
- At all times, show high visibility and interact as much as possible with students.
- Access control to high school and middle school during times when students are present.
- Help to monitor the cafeteria during lunch periods when needed.
- Assist in the off-loading of students from buses when necessary.
- Regular and consistent attendance
- Perform other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Eight (8) hours per day, 185 days per year (182 student days, 3 teacher days)

While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and is required to talk and hear. The employee must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee will be subject to inside office environmental conditions with moderate noise levels.
