We are seeking a reliable, caring, and organized Child Care Cook/Floater with hands-on CACFP experience to join our team.
CACFP experience is required for this position. The ideal candidate must be familiar with CACFP paperwork, procedures, meal patterns, food components, meal counts, food production records, and compliance requirements.
This position is perfect for someone who enjoys preparing nutritious meals for young children, takes pride in accurate CACFP recordkeeping, and is willing to jump in and support classrooms when needed.
Kitchen & CACFP Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve nutritious breakfasts, lunches, and supper according to approved menus and USDA/CACFP requirements.
- Plan and prepare menus that meet CACFP meal patterns, food components, and serving requirements.
- Complete and maintain accurate, timely CACFP paperwork and documentation, including meal counts, food production records, menus, and other required records.
- Follow CACFP procedures for meal service, substitutions, creditable foods, and dietary accommodations.
- Ensure meals and snacks are served in accordance with CACFP requirements.
- Safely prepare meals for children with food allergies, dietary restrictions, and special nutritional needs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen while following food safety and health regulations.
- Monitor food inventory, rotate stock, place orders, and minimize food waste.
- Follow proper food storage, preparation, temperature, and sanitation procedures.
- Report kitchen equipment, safety, or maintenance concerns promptly.
Classroom Floater Responsibilities
- Provide classroom coverage and support teachers as needed.
- Assist with activities, transitions, meals, routines, and child supervision.
- Help maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming environment.
- Step in wherever needed to support the smooth operation of the center.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, teachers, and coworkers.
- Follow all center policies and procedures related to health, safety, supervision, and confidentiality.
QualificationsCACFP Experience Is REQUIRED
Applicants must have previous hands-on experience with CACFP in a child care center, preschool, school, Head Start program, or similar setting.
You must be familiar with:
- CACFP meal patterns and food components
- Serving sizes and portion requirements
- Creditable foods
- CACFP menu planning
- Meal counts
- Food production records
- CACFP paperwork and recordkeeping
- Meal substitutions
- Dietary accommodations
- USDA/CACFP procedures and compliance requirements
Additional qualifications:
- Previous food preparation or kitchen experience.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation.
- Experience preparing food for young children.
- Experience accommodating food allergies and special diets.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to complete paperwork accurately and on time.
- Dependable, positive, patient, and team-oriented.
- Comfortable working around young children.
- Ability to multitask and adapt to changing daily needs.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand/walk for extended periods.
- Must meet applicable child care employment requirements and successfully pass required background checks.
