What are the responsibilities and job description for the Church Childcare Provider position at Union Lutheran Church-York?
Union Lutheran Church seeks a compassionate and reliable childcare provider to care for children from infancy through fifth grade during worship services and other church events. This position requires 3.5 hours on Sunday mornings (9:00 AM–12:30 PM), with additional hours available for evening and weekend events, averaging at least one additional shift per week.
The provider will always work alongside a volunteer assistant to comply with state laws requiring two approved adults.
Essential Duties
· Provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children.
· Organize faith-based activities such as songs, story time, simple crafts, and games. (Suggested resources provided.)
· Assist with basic hygiene needs, including diaper changes, bathroom assistance, and handwashing.
· Supervise and distribute provided snacks.
Required Skills & Abilities
· Ability to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all children, respecting diverse backgrounds.
· Strong communication, time management, and multitasking skills.
· Ability to engage and supervise children effectively.
· Good judgment and decision-making skills in childcare situations.
Education & Experience
· High school diploma or GED required.
· At least one year of experience as a childcare provider, teacher, or similar role.
· Current clearances: criminal background check, child abuse clearances, FBI background check, drug test, and proof of required immunizations.
Reporting Structure
· The Childcare Provider will report to the Personnel Committee and the Pastor for Congregational Life, Formation, and Care.
Compensation
· $16/hour
