The Unit Secretary – UHR OP Surgery provides clerical and administrative support to the unit. You would ensure accurate documentation, efficient communication, and coordination of unit activities to support patient care delivery.
This role reports to the Nursing Care Manager.

Essential Job Duties:
- Support daily unit operations by coordinating clerical and administrative activities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, logs, and charts
- Answer phones, relay messages, and communicate critical information to the care team
- Transcribe and enter physician orders accurately into the electronic health record
- Assist nursing staff by monitoring unit activity and prioritizing tasks
- Ensure availability of chart forms, supplies, and clerical materials Dismantle patient charts at discharge and assist with record collection as needed
Qualifications:
- Proficient keyboarding and basic computer skills
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation Previous Unit Secretary or Ward Clerk experience preferred
