Cardiac Nuclear Medicine Assistant Details
Essential Job Duties:
Assists with procedures performed on patients under the direction of a physician or APP and a licensed Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
- Prepares stress rooms for procedures
- Interviews patients, measures vital signa such as pulse rate, pulse oxygen level, blood pressure, and records information in patient’s charts.
- Position patients and equipment.
- Cleans and disinfects equipment.
- Inventory supplies
- Preps and perform Treadmill stress tests for patients
- Start IV’s and eventually run nuclear cameras
- Safeguard the privacy of patient’s health information
- Other related duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a Radiography or Health Science program.
- Enrollment in an online Nuclear Medicine program required within six (6) months of employment; certification must be attained within six (6) months of graduation.
- Attend Nuclear Medicine clinicals required by online program.
- Agreement to stay employed in the Union Health Cardiac Nuclear Medicine department for at least 2 years after graduating an accredited Nuclear Medicine program and passing either the NMTCB or ARRT(N) certification exam.
- BLS certification
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to effectively communicate
- Cardiac experience preferred.
