About the Role:
A Shower CNA is a specialized Certified Nursing Assistant responsible for the personal hygiene and bathing of residents in a long-term care/skilled nursing facility. While the primary focus of this position is showering and bathing, the Shower CNA may also perform standard CNA duties as part of a resident's overall care plan. This position requires compassion, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ultimately, your efforts will contribute significantly to enhancing the quality of life for patients and supporting their recovery process.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Nursing Assistant in the state of practice.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in long-term care or rehabilitation.
- Additional certifications in specialized areas of patient care, such as dementia care or palliative care.
Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with personal hygiene, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Provide full personal care after bathing such as hair care, nail care and dressing.
- Help patients with mobility, including transferring them to and from beds, wheelchairs, and other equipment.
- Monitor residents for any changes in skin conditions and report to the supervising nurse.
- Maintain a clean and safe patient environment by following infection control protocols and ensuring proper sanitation.
- Accurately chart the care provided and any resident observations in the facility's electronic health records.
