Job Summary:
The Middle School ELA Interventionist is responsible for providing targeted literacy support to students in grades 6–8 who are reading and writing below grade level. The ELA Interventionist works with individuals and small groups to improve reading fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and writing skills, using research-based strategies and assessments to accelerate student progress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver daily small-group or individual intervention sessions in reading and/or writing.
- Use diagnostic assessments and ongoing progress monitoring to identify students needing intervention and evaluate their growth.
- Design and implement individualized literacy intervention plans based on student needs.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, instructional coaches, and special education staff to coordinate supports and align instruction with core curriculum.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of student performance and instructional activities.
- Provide input on RTI/MTSS processes, including attending team meetings and assisting in Tier 2 and Tier 3 planning.
- Support implementation of school-wide literacy goals and reading initiatives.
- Communicate regularly with teachers regarding student progress and literacy development strategies.
- Engage in professional development related to reading intervention, adolescent literacy, and culturally responsive practices.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education from a four-year college or university.
- Meet all North Carolina Department of Public Instruction certification requirements
- Demonstrate expertise in content, curriculum development,studentlearning, data analysis, digital learning, and professional development.
- Exhibit experience analyzing and utilizing student data to increase student achievement through specific instructional interventions.
- Master Degree in Education or related area.
- Prior teacher coaching and/or mentoring experience.
- Demonstrate mastery-level instructional practices as measured by an effectiveness rating of Effective or Highly Effective on the NC Educator Evaluation System (NCEES).
