Senior Accounting & Finance Associate
About the Role
Unio Capital, a fast-growing institutional investment management firm based in Princeton, N.J., is looking for a Senior Accounting & Finance Associate. You'll own core bookkeeping, accounting, and finance functions — driving key projects and recurring processes while working closely with firm management and several key service providers. This is a hybrid role based in our Princeton, N.J. office.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform full-cycle bookkeeping, including accounts payable/receivable, billing, and invoicing
• Manage general ledger activity: chart of accounts, reconciliations, and month-end close
• Prepare and reconcile monthly bank and credit card statements
• Generate financial reports for management (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, equity) and support quarterly close; experience with notes to financial statements a plus
• Run billing cycles for separately managed accounts, assisted by our portfolio accounting system's billing module
• Collaborate with external accountants, auditors, and the fund administrator on fund audits, tax filings, and annual reporting
• Provide documentation to auditors, tax advisors, and legal counsel to support timely, accurate filings
• Supervise outsourced accounting service providers to ensure timely, accurate deliverables
• Set up new vendors and subcontractors, collecting and verifying required documentation (W-9s, Certificates of Insurance, contracts, etc.)
• Assist and handle additional duties and special projects as assigned
Preference given to candidates with hands-on experience in Xero, Bill.com, Ramp, Rippling, Eze, or similar systems, and experience reviewing NAV packages or performing “shadow” fund accounting in portfolio accounting software.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• CPA not required but a plus
• 7 years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience with financial software integrations (accounting, bill pay, corporate card, payroll)
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and recordkeeping
• Ability to work independently with sound judgment in a small office environment
• Investment accounting experience at an asset manager, hedge fund, or private equity firm preferred
Compensation & Benefits
• Salary range: $95,000–$145,000, inclusive of merit-based bonus (based on several factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, skills, and company performance)
