Job Title: Senior CNC Machinist (Prototype)

Pay: $35–$45/hour (DOE) overtime potential
Schedule: Friday – Sunday | 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Weekend Shift)
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior CNC Machinist to support prototype and low-volume production of precision fasteners and specialty components. This individual will play a critical role in new product development, taking ownership from setup through prove-out and repeatable production.
This is not a production-only role—this position requires strong problem-solving, process development, and machining strategy expertise to deliver high-quality parts with tight tolerances.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full machine setups, prove-outs, and operation of CNC mills and/or lathes
- Program editing at the machine and ability to optimize toolpaths as needed
- Manufacture prototype and short-run components, including precision fasteners (nuts, bolts, specialty parts)
- Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings to ensure accurate part production
- Select tooling, fixtures, and workholding solutions appropriate for part geometry and material
- Optimize speeds, feeds, and cutting strategies for efficiency and tool life
- Conduct in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, indicators, gauges, etc.)
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and process issues to minimize downtime and scrap
- Collaborate with engineering on new product development, manufacturability, and process improvements
- Maintain accurate documentation of setups, offsets, and process changes
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and maintain a clean, organized workspace
Required Qualifications
- 10–15 years of CNC machining experience in a precision environment
- Proven ability to independently perform complex setups and program edits
- Strong experience with tight-tolerance machining (±.0005” or better)
- Experience working in prototype or low-volume manufacturing environments
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability on the shop floor
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience machining fasteners or similar high-precision components
- Familiarity with CAM software such as Mastercam or Fusion 360
- Experience working with a variety of materials (alloy steels, stainless, etc.)
- Exposure to continuous improvement or lean manufacturing practices
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
- Work performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and cutting fluids
- Required use of appropriate PPE at all times
Salary : $35 - $45
