Our client, an international manufacturer of industrial equipment, seeks a Payroll Specialist on a long-term indefinite temporary/contract basis.
This position is available hybrid/on-site in Mebane, NC, or fully remote for candidates residing in NC, NJ, SC, FL, or GA only. Applicants outside these states will not be considered.
This role blends deep payroll system expertise (Dayforce-centric, with broader HRIS exposure) with practical application of AI tools including Copilot, AI agents, and scripted automations. The Specialist will also reduce operational risk, eliminate manual work, and preserve institutional knowledge through well?designed, governed automation.
Responsibilities:
- Enter and update payroll data in the Dayforce payroll system accurately and timely.
- Review and audit payroll calculations to ensure accuracy, including time and attendance, garnishments, tax withholdings, 401(k) contributions, and employee healthcare contribution withholdings.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and company policies.
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports, including summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, and non-taxable wages.
- Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
- Provide email support to employees regarding payroll inquiries and issues, ensuring clear and responsive communication.
- Collaborate with HR, finance, and other departments to ensure seamless payroll processing and accurate data.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of payroll transactions and documentation. Ensure confidentiality and security of employee information.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the development and implementation of payroll best practices.Hours: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
Qualifications:
- 5 years of payroll processing experience
- Dayforce Payroll System experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of Workday system is a plus.
- Must have Multi-state payroll experience
- Must be able to process a large payroll census of 1,000 employees or more.
- Basic understanding of payroll processes, tax regulations, and benefits administration.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience auditing your own work and that of others to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques; ability to meet and exceed customer needs and expectations while providing service in a direct and indirect manner.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and documentation. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Experience documenting processes, procedures, and statements of work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Self-starter who is proactive in seeking out answers and solutions when faced with unfamiliar situations
Pay Range- $35.00-$42.00 per hour
Hours- 8:30am-5:00pm
