Unified Health Technology, located in Eagle, Idaho, is seeking a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and ongoing improvement of its cloud platform. The work spans GCP, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code to build systems that are scalable, secure, and easy to operate for internal engineering teams. This position suits someone with extensive hands-on cloud experience and a strong software engineering background, particularly in Go.
You will work closely with platform, security, and product engineers to deliver reliable services, increase automation, and refine infrastructure practices across the company.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain infrastructure on GCP (GKE, VPCs, networking, IAM, GCS, Cloud SQL/Postgres, and related services).
- Configure and operate Kubernetes clusters, workloads, and supporting components (ingress, autoscaling, service mesh, and related tooling).
- Develop internal tools and automation using Go, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and Kubernetes APIs.
- Set up and manage monitoring, logging, alerting, and SLOs with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and GCP's operations suite.
- Improve reliability through capacity planning, performance tuning, and early incident detection.
- Strengthen platform security with sound IAM design, workload identity, secrets management, firewalls, rate limiting, intrusion detection, and other controls aligned with compliance needs.
- Take part in on-call rotations and help refine incident management processes.
- Mentor other engineers and help advance infrastructure and platform practices within the team.
Required Qualifications
- At least 10 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, platform engineering, or site reliability roles.
- Deep experience with Google Cloud Platform, including GKE, IAM, networking, monitoring, and storage services.
- Strong background running Kubernetes in production.
- Solid programming skills in Go for building platform tools, automation, and service integrations.
- Proficiency with Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and modern Git-based workflows.
- Practical experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or GCP Cloud Monitoring.
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, reliability patterns, and scalable infrastructure design.
- Clear communication skills and comfort working across teams in a remote‑first environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating Kubernetes across multiple clusters or regions.
- Familiarity with secure cloud architectures and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 or HIPAA, or other regulated environments.
- Experience working with PostgreSQL, particularly managed services like Cloud SQL or CNPG.
- Background in incident response, chaos engineering, or performance engineering.
- Experience building or maintaining internal platforms used by developers.
