Overview
Position Overview
At Unified Door & Hardware Group (UDHG), the Senior Engineer independently prepares detailed material submittals for review by the project architect or design professional to confirm compliance with the project plans, specifications, and the project contract prior to ordering material. This is a senior level position, and the role will only be assigned to complex or significant projects at the Company.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
Key Responsibilities
- Keeps projects on schedule to meet submittal deadlines
- Establishes and manages projects within detailing software
- Analyzes project scope with Sales/Estimating teams to determine viable products and submittals
- Communicates regularly with Project Managers (PMs), Sales, and Engineering to ensure alignment
- Updates project status throughout the detailing phase
- Independently prepares and completes compliant project submittals per company directives, plans, specifications, and contracts
- Maintains project folders and documentation in accordance with company procedures
- Communicates submittal completion to Engineering Assistant to initiate next process steps
- Develops and maintains expertise in building codes, product certifications, door opening applications, and detailing software
- Reviews engineering scope notes with PM team after detailing
- Identifies conflicts in project documents and documents cost impacts or savings in project software
- Forwards issues requiring RFIs to the PM for resolution

- Resolves customer issues using independent business judgment and discretion
- Performs additional related duties as assigned by management

- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- College degree preferred in Construction Mgmt., Architecture or related field can be substituted for experience requirement
- Two to four years in door and hardware industry or related trade
- Strong competency in computer software and project knowledge
- Basic accounting knowledge
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Good communication skills

The listed pay range reflects the expected base rate for this position; actual compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and cost of living in the assigned market. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits.
