Interim CTE HVAC Instructor
*HVAC - Mechanical, Electrical, & Plumbing program of study designed to prepare students for careers in residential and commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration.
Interim Dates: November 21, 2025 through December 19, 2025
Qualifications:
- Minimum Education requirements:
- High school diploma or above
- Occupational Work Experience:
- Five years of full-time work experience out of the past eight years
- Applicants must provide verification of work experience in the endorsement area
Essential Functions:
The following functions are normal for this position. These functions are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Design lessons based on the Tennessee Department of Education Curriculum Standards for the assigned subject area and courses;
- Use various instructional strategies and groupings to support students' mastery of standards and skill attainment in the subject area;
- Prepare for assigned courses and shows evidence of preparation (lesson and unit plans) upon request by the immediate supervisor;
- Instruct all assigned classes at designated meeting location and time;
- Administer assessments to evaluate students' progress on a regular basis;
- Analyze individual student data to plan and modify instruction to meet individual student needs;
- Develop a classroom environment conducive to learning;
- Encourage students to maintain standards of classroom behavior;
- Assist in upholding and enforcing all school rules, board policies, and administrative regulations and procedures;
- Communicate students' progress regularly with parents;
- Provide availability outside of the instructional school day for educational purposes to both students and parents when requested to do so;
- Attend and participate in all assigned departmental meetings, professional development sessions, educational conferences, and faculty meetings;
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, board policy, and administrative regulations and procedures;
- Provide detailed plans for substitute teachers including lessons, assignments, student expectations, and emergency procedures (fire drill, lockdown, etc.);
- Supervise students at school-related functions including on and off campus activities;
- Represent the school and community in a positive manner; and
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Content Specific Functions:
- Teach skills and knowledge in HVAC instruction to secondary students, utilizing the Tennessee State Standards and Curriculum
- Provide learning experiences which provide students with an opportunity to develop specific academic, technical, and 21st century skills necessary to be successful in career and in life
- Instructs and assesses each pupil's progress in comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing the target language and in cultural knowledge, in relationship to the level being taught
- Ensure adherence to all safety standards and practices, including oversight, care, and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and materials
