What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pipe Layer/Laborer position at Underground Pipe & Construction?
We are hiring two positions for our utility crews working on water, sewer, and storm drain projects throughout Middle Tennessee. We are looking for both an experienced Pipe Layer and a Construction Laborer to join our team.

Responsibilities
- Install water, sewer, and storm drain pipe
- Assist with setting manholes, inlets, and other structures
- Perform trenching, bedding, backfilling, and grade work
- Hand digging, shoveling stone, and general site cleanup
- Assist equipment operators and spot equipment safely
- Use common construction tools and equipment
- Follow jobsite safety procedures
Pipe Layer Qualifications
- 3–4 years experience installing underground utilities
- Ability to read plans and understand grade
- Experience setting pipe and structures
- Strong understanding of safe trench work
Laborer Qualifications
- Entry-level candidates welcome
- Willingness to learn utility installation and work as part of a crew
- Ability to perform physical labor outdoors
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug testing (drug-free workplace)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, work in trenches, and perform physical labor
- Willing to work as part of a small utility crew

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 50 per week
