Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team. In this pivotal role, managing the company’s day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring accurate financial records. This role supports financial reporting, compliance, payroll coordination, and internal controls while providing timely financial insights to management. The Internal Accountant works closely with leadership, operations, HR, and external advisors to support sound financial decision-making and business growth.
Key Responsibilities Core Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial records
- Record daily transactions, journal entries, and adjusting entries
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and loan statements
- Manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR)
- Process invoices, payments, and collections
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Generate profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Provide financial reports and insights to management
Payroll & Taxes
- Coordinate with payroll providers
- Ensure payroll taxes, sales tax, and use tax filings are accurate and timely
- Prepare and file W-2s and 1099s
- Support income tax preparation by working with external CPAs or tax firms
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
- Maintain internal controls to prevent errors and fraud
- Support audits by providing documentation and explanations
- Maintain organized financial records and supporting schedules
Software & Systems
- Maintain and manage accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, Xero)
- Improve accounting processes and workflows
- Ensure proper documentation, system integrity, and data accuracy
Business Support
- Monitor cash flow and identify potential issues
- Assist with cost tracking and expense control
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis as needed
- Collaborate with operations, HR, and leadership on financial matters
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5 years of accounting experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- CPA preferred but not required for internal accounting roles
