Underdog Pet Rescue & Veterinary Services is seeking a Veterinary Receptionist / Client Service Representative to join our compassionate and collaborative team in Madison, Wisconsin.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with both animals and people, thrives in a fast-paced veterinary clinic environment, and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service and client communication.
Our brand-new clinic located on Stoughton Road provides veterinary care for animals in our rescue program while also offering surgery, urgent care, and wellness services for public veterinary clients.
About Underdog Pet Rescue
Underdog Pet Rescue is an all-breed companion animal rescue based in Dane County, Wisconsin. Our mission is to find permanent homes for animals in need and enrich lives by strengthening the connection between animals and people through community services and outreach.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization operating a foster-based rescue program and veterinary clinic. Our veterinary team supports animals in our rescue program while also serving the public through accessible veterinary care.
Veterinary Receptionist / Client Service Representative Responsibilities
The Veterinary Receptionist is often the first point of contact for clients and foster families, making this role essential to creating a positive experience for pets and people.
Responsibilities include:
- Greeting clients and checking in veterinary patients
- Scheduling veterinary appointments via phone and email
- Providing excellent client service and communication
- Following up with clients regarding appointments and patient care
- Managing paperwork, scanning documents, and maintaining patient records
- Assisting with clinic organization and cleanliness
- Occasionally assisting veterinary staff with safe handling of dogs and cats
- Supporting daily veterinary clinic operations
Our clinic uses Shelterluv and DaySmart software for scheduling and patient records.
Qualifications
We are looking for a reliable, organized, and compassionate team member who enjoys working with animals and providing outstanding customer service.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working in a veterinary clinic, animal shelter, rescue, or animal care setting
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced veterinary environment
- Comfortable working with dogs and cats
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
- Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team
Veterinary reception or veterinary client service experience is preferred but not required. Training will be provided for the right candidate.
Schedule
- 30–40 hours per week
- Monday–Friday
- No weekend hours
- Reliable attendance is required
Some scheduling flexibility may be available for the right candidate.
