Position Summary
The Closing Manager plays a key role in supporting the Store Manager, Assistant Store Managers, and Department Managers by overseeing late day up to store closing hours with stocking operations across multiple departments, including grocery, general merchandise, dairy, prepared foods, and frozen foods. This role helps ensure operational excellence by maintaining consistent store standards, delivering fresh and appealing products, and fostering a welcoming environment through friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient service that builds customer confidence and loyalty.
Key Responsibilities
Operations
Support the Store Manager with daily operational activities, including associate supervision, marketing initiatives, pricing execution, policy and procedure compliance, inventory preparation, department cleanliness, and other operational needs as assigned.
Inventory Management
Assist with all inventory processes, including ordering, receiving, invoicing, back stock management, returns, damages, supply usage, and inventory counts.
Merchandising
Ensure proper product stocking, rotation, signage, and display setup while maintaining visual standards throughout the store.
Risk Management
Monitor and enforce employee, customer, and equipment safety standards and training requirements. Partner closely with the Store Manager to support all safety initiatives.
Coaching & Mentorship
Provide guidance, coaching, and ongoing support to associates to promote development, accountability, and team success.
Conflict Resolution
Assist in resolving associate conflicts professionally and effectively, collaborating with the Store Manager and Human Resources when necessary.
Safety & Quality Compliance
Adhere to all Uncle Giuseppe’s safety policies and procedures, as well as all applicable local, state, and federal regulations, to ensure a safe environment for both customers and employees.
Position Requirements

HS Diploma or equivalent

3–5 years of experience as a Closing Manager, Store Manager, or Assistant Store Manager in a retail grocery environment preferred

Prior experience supervising building operations and staff

Demonstrated leadership skills and strong business acumen

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, manage, and motivate teams

Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
