UNC Hospitals Department of Audiology is seeking a highly motivated and experienced audiologist to serve as Audiology Supervisor of Adult Audiology Services. This leadership role blends 50% clinical care with 50% administrative/supervisory responsibilities, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and efficient patient care across multiple sites in the Triangle area.
UNC Hospitals Audiology provides a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient services across seven sites in the Triangle and is committed to excellence in patient care, program innovation, and training future leaders in audiology.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Provide direct patient care (diagnostics, hearing aids, implantable devices, tinnitus, vestibular as applicable)
- Triage referrals and urgent requests; coordinate care across adult services
- Provide back-up coverage across adult clinics and address escalated patient concerns
- Directly supervise 12–13 full- and part-time adult audiologists, including check-ins, annual performance reviews, and professional development
- Manage clinical scheduling decisions, workflow adjustments, and staff coverage
- Lead monthly staff meetings, plan in-services, track attendance, and develop annual staff competency requirements
- Conduct chart reviews/audits; update protocols and documentation
- Recruit, schedule, and supervise AuD students/externs; sign off on ASHA hours (candidates with CCC-A preferred)
- Support program growth and quality projects in the areas of adult audiology diagnostics, hearing aids, tinnitus, and/or vestibular services
- Collaborate with ENT/Audiology leadership and participate in system-wide initiatives and meetings
- Active participation in Audiology Leadership, Rehab Management, Adult Audiology Staff, CI, and Rehab Service Line meetings
- Has strong expertise in diagnostics, hearing aids, implantable devices, and tinnitus (vestibular experience preferred)
- Demonstrates proven leadership and mentorship skills
- Thrives in an academic medical center, collaborating closely with otolaryngologists and multidisciplinary teams
- Has experience supervising the clinical education of audiology trainees and externs
- Shows initiative in program development, protocol improvement, and quality initiatives
Other Information
Education Requirements:
- Doctorate degree in Audiology
- Licensed as an Audiologist by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
- Five (5) years of clinical experience
- Understands and applies principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized expertise.
