What You’ll Do as a Transport Aide

Safely transport patients throughout the hospital using wheelchairs, stretchers, Hoyer lifts, and other mobility devices.

Assist patients entering and exiting beds, vehicles, and wheelchairs using proper techniques and equipment.

Support patient check-in and discharge by greeting patients, offering mobility assistance, and coordinating access to transportation.

Communicate with transport dispatch and collaborate with nursing teams to ensure efficient workflows.

Maintain patient dignity, comfort, and safety during all transports.

Assist with moving non-clinical equipment as needed, following safety guidelines.

Monitor lobby and parking areas to identify and assist patients and visitors requiring support.
Qualifications
Minimum Education
-
High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
Experience
-
Experience in a hospital or healthcare environment preferred.
Licensure/Certification
-
CPR certification required (can be obtained upon hire).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Ability to read, write, and count.
- Demonstrated emotional intelligence, teamwork, and customer service.
- Dependability, punctuality, and physical capability to perform strenuous tasks.
Physical & Work Environment
- Ability to lift, position, pull, push, and transfer up to or greater than 300 pounds using proper equipment and techniques.
- Manual dexterity, mobility, and the ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods.
- Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, turning, and reaching.
- Regular exposure to bloodborne diseases, hazardous equipment, chemicals, and unpleasant elements (slippery/uneven surfaces).
- Irregular hours including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Continuous standing and walking for 8 hour shifts.
- Frequent patient mobilization 4 hours per shift.
- Frequent close eye work, repetition of hand/finger movements, and exposure to soft voices within >3 feet.
- Infrequent exposure to ionizing or non-ionizing radiation.
