Position Summary

The Echocardiograph Technician (Echo Tech) performs echocardiography services to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Integrates professional judgment and technical skills with effective patient interaction to provide quality patient care and useful diagnostic information.

Position Qualifications

Minimum Education
-
Graduate of AMA accredited school of health science education

Registered or registry eligible with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers required (must obtain within one year of hire or if on the job trained within 2 years)

Experience
-
Demonstrated proficiency using GE Echocardiographic equipment preferred
-
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operation, and maintenance manuals to maintain Echo equipment
-
Intermediate computer, keyboarding, and data entry skills
-
Medical terminology knowledge
-
Ability to speak Spanish preferred

Required Registration/License/Certification
-
Registered or registry eligible with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers required (must obtain within one year of hire or if on the job trained within 2 years)

Basic Life Support BLS from the American Heart Association is required at the time of hire
-
All required certifications must be obtained within 1 year of hire date, except Basic Life Support (BLS)

BLS, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications must be obtained from the American Heart Association, as required by the department

Competent in delivering safe and effective patient care within legal limits of license and certifications and hospital policies and procedures

Knowledge of the continuum of nursing care provided in the patient care department
