  • Position Summary
    • The Director of Revenue Cycle Optimization is responsible for optimizing overall revenue cycle operations and maximizing cash flow across all facilities at UNCHealth Appalachian. This position reports to the Associate Vice President of Revenue Services and interacts with other senior leaders on the organization’s financial performance and collaborates closely with other revenue cycle departmental directors across UNCHealth to ensure appropriate reimbursement for the UNCH-App services. 
       
      The position provides strategic oversight for revenue cycle improvement initiatives, programs, and policies designed to attain organizational revenue goals, ensure regulatory compliance, and improve patient financial experience.  The position will both directly oversee and indirectly influence positions involved in ambulatory, acute, post-acute, and behavioral care to assure Revenue Cycle processes are completed. 
       
      The position may also provide direct oversight of leaders and/or front-line teammates engaged in strategic or start-up initiatives. 

       

  • Position Qualifications
    • Minimum Education
        • Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, accounting, finance, or a related field required. 
        • Master’s degree in business, healthcare administration, accounting, finance, or a related field preferred. 
    •  
    • Experience
        • Three or more years of leadership experience in a healthcare revenue cycle environment. 
    •  
    • Required Registration/License/Certification
      •

    • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
        • Thorough knowledge of hospital and professional revenue cycle operations and key performance indicators. 
        • Strong understanding of federal and state regulatory requirements related to revenue cycle operations. 
        • Proficiency with computer applications, electronic health records, and practice management systems. 
        • Basic knowledge of medical terminology. 
        • Demonstrated leadership skills in working with large cross-departmental teams and delivering desired results. 
        • Effective problem-solving, multitasking, and prioritization skills. 
        • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to all levels of organizational stakeholders. 
        • Expertise in financial analysis and data representation. 
        • Competence in resource management, including finances, personnel, and time.

        • Lifts, positions, pushes, pulls, and/or transfers up to and greater than 30 pounds
        • Manual dexterity and mobility
        • Prolonged, extensive or considerable sitting/standing/walking
        • Bending, squatting, twisting, and turning
        • Near acuity: ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less

    • Working Conditions
      • Rarely exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases
      • Infrequently may be exposed to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment, odorous chemicals and specimens, and unpleasant elements (accident, injury, slippery surfaces, uneven surfaces), etc.
      • Subject to irregular hours (days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays) and emergencies
      • Continuous sitting, standing and walking long periods = to or greater than > 8 hours per shift
      • Speaking, reading, and writing, expanded > 8 hours per day
      • May be exposed to vibration and cramped spaces
      • Lifts, carries, pushes, and/or pulls > 30 lbs.
      • Infrequently bends, squats, kneels, twists, turns, and reaches
      • Frequently per minute: hand, finger, and wrist repetition and moderate dexterity
      • May be exposed to ionizing/nonionizing radiation exposure, including x-ray and microwave
