Position Overview

The CT Technologist integrates scientific knowledge and technical skills with effective patient interaction to provide quality patient care and useful diagnostic information. This role provides direct and indirect patient care services that meet individual patient needs. The CT Technologist makes ethical decisions with compassion and respect for each patient’s dignity and unique attributes. This role requires effective communication with patients, families, visitors, colleagues, physicians, leadership, and volunteers.

The CT Technologist follows ARHS policies and procedures, regulatory requirements, and standards of behavior while practicing within the scope of their license. This position is integral to achieving and maintaining top decile results for patient experience, quality, and safety.

Compensation is commensurate upon education, experience, certification, and internal equity. Hiring compensation range starts from $27.00 per hour.

  • Compensation is commensurate upon education & experience - range is $27.00 per hour or more. Benefits begin the first of the month following 60 days of employment from the new hire orientation date. This position is non-exempt and includes shift differentials for qualified shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality CT scans following physician orders and established imaging protocols.
  • Ensure patient safety through proper identification, positioning, and adherence to radiation safety guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in the electronic medical record system.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and healthcare teams to provide timely diagnostic imaging services.
  • Operate and maintain CT equipment, troubleshooting technical issues as needed.
  • Provide patient education regarding imaging procedures and ensure a positive patient experience.

Position Requirements

Minimum Education

  • Graduate of an AMA-accredited radiologic sciences program.
  • Applicable registry credential required.
  • R-CT preferred.

Experience

  • Clinical radiographic and imaging experience from an AMA-accredited health science program.
  • One year of diagnostic radiology experience preferred.
  • Ability to complete the CT Technologist Level II orientation program.

Required Registration/License/Certification

  • CT registry within two years of Level II competency.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association at the time of hire.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with patients, families, staff, and physicians.
  • Competence in delivering safe and effective patient care within the legal scope of the license and hospital policies.
  • Understanding of the continuum of care provided in the patient care department.
  • Exceptional customer service skills to enhance patient and staff interactions.

Physical Demands

Continuous standing and walking for long periods (
  • 8 hours per shift).
  • Speaking, reading, and writing for extended periods (
  • 8 hours per day).
  • Exposure to vibration and cramped spaces (> 1 hour per day).
  • Frequent patient mobilization (> 4 hours per day).
  • Frequent per shift: lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling 50 lbs.
  • Frequent per hour: bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, turning, and reaching.
  • Frequent per minute: hand, finger, and wrist repetition with moderate dexterity.
  • Frequent per hour: exposure to soft voices from > 3 feet away.
  • Frequent per hour: close eye work.
  • Frequent per shift: potential exposure to ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, including X-rays and microwaves.

Working Conditions

  • Regularly exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases.
  • Exposure to electrical, mechanical, and power equipment hazards.
  • Exposure to unpleasant elements such as accidents, injuries, slippery surfaces, and uneven terrain.
  • Must handle emergency or crisis situations.
  • Subject to irregular hours (days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays).
  • On-call required.
