Umpqua Community College is looking for a motivated, creative, and reliable Summer Assistant who’s ready to jump in, learn new skills, and help support the day-to-day work that keeps campus life moving. No two days are the same here — one day you might help organize student events, the next you could be assisting with housing operations or collaborating with teams across campus.
The Student Services Summer Assistant provides administrative and operational support within the Division of Student Services, helping students, staff, and campus departments maintain efficient daily operations and create a positive student experience. In this role, you’ll assist with customer service, office support, event preparation, communications, and special projects while gaining valuable hands-on experience in higher education and student services.
This temporary 3-month position runs from June through September and offers an excellent opportunity to build professional skills, gain real-world experience, and contribute to a student-focused campus community.

- Support Student Services with daily operations and long-term projects related to division goals and initiatives.
- Collaborate with departments across the college to complete projects and support student-focused services.
- Attend team meetings, brainstorming sessions, trainings, and workshops to gain knowledge of Student Services operations and contribute ideas.
- Assist with administrative tasks including organizing files, preparing documents, and scheduling meetings.
- Support Housing operations, including move-out processes, room assignments, and communication with new and returning residents.
- Create promotional materials using social media and digital design platforms.
- Assist with mass communications, including mailings and emails.
- Support division events and activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned based on departmental needs and individual skillsets.
- Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with standard office software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn new processes and responsibilities.
- Ability to analyze information and solve problems effectively.
- Professional demeanor and ability to positively represent the college.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital design tools preferred.
Required
- Currently enrolled in an associate or bachelor’s degree program at an accredited college or university.
- Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work professionally with students, employees, and the public.
- Experience with Canva or other digital design software.
- Previous experience in customer service, student leadership, or administrative support.
