Job Description Summary Organization's Summary Statement: The Department of Athletics at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore invites resumes for a full-time, twelve-month position. The Head Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for the design, implementation, and oversight of comprehensive athletic performance programs across all sport programs within a Division I athletics department. This role serves as a key member of the athletic staff and works in close collaboration with coaches, sports medicine, and sports science personnel. Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 Benefits: The University of Maryland Eastern Shore, as a University System of Maryland institution and a Maryland State agency, provides a comprehensive benefits package to all regular faculty and staff. Responsibilities: • Development and management of individual and group strength training programs for men and women student-athletes participating in the intercollegiate athletics program. • Demonstrate various physical strength exercises and to assist others performing those exercises. • Oversee the strength and conditioning facility, including equipment maintenance, safety protocols, and daily scheduling • Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree. • Flexibility in work schedule is a must as early mornings, evenings, and weekends are required. Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: • Knowledge of NCAA rules and safety requirement of strength and conditioning training to include, but not limited to, teaching techniques and safety measures for student-athletes to compete at a collegiate level. • Scope of the positions requires the ability to perform and/or demonstrate various physical strength exercises, and to assist others performing those exercises. • Proficiency with computers. • Excellent organization, interpersonal, and communication skills to include writing skills. Physical Demands: • May require extended periods of standing, bending, stooping, sitting at desk. • May require lifting. • Requires communication with a variety of constituents externally and internally. • Requires operation of a variety of office equipment. Licenses/ Certifications: • Must be certified to adequately conduct workout sessions as governed by NCAA guidelines. • Must be certified CPR/AED/First Aid • CSCS (NSCA) or SCCCC (CSCCa) Certification Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of experience in sports management or related field. Must be able to communicate effectively; Must be able to work in a fast paced environment; Must have exceptional organizational skills and excel in a team environment; Must be able to able to work evenings and weekends.
