Role Description
As a Mechanical Construction Project Manager, you will lead high-performing teams in design, engineering, project management, and business services. You will oversee the successful execution of major construction projects by managing the project's: personnel, financials, risks/opportunities, and schedules, through effective relationship building, communication, negotiation, scheduling, tracking, document control, and forecasting. You will mentor Project Engineers and Project Coordinators, and develop strong, positive relationships with clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and own estimates, project scoping, proposals, safety, and execution while meeting or exceeding department profitability goals
- Understand mechanical systems costing and value analysis
- Communicate with UMC engineering staff to ensure complete designs and clear scope within budget
- Collaborate with UMC Manufacturing (VCS and fabrication) and attend coordination meetings
- Develop and maintain positive client relationships
- Estimate and negotiate change orders
- Track, forecast, and report labor hours and material costs
- Buyout major equipment and subcontracts; expedite and track deliveries
- Maintain working knowledge of project contracts and specifications
- Ensure compliance with UMC Standards and contractual requirements
- Plan, organize, and schedule project work with field labor supervision
- Prepare fabrication shop work packages
- Ensure full compliance with UMC Safety Program
- Communicate proactively and professionally with team members
- Uphold UMC Core Values and maintain regular attendance and promptness

Supervisory Responsibility
- Supervise and coach Project Engineers, and Project Coordinators
Preferred Education and Experience
- Experience as a mechanical project manager
- Degree in Construction Management or Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering desired
- Experience managing PMs and PEs
- Basic HVAC and plumbing engineering knowledge
Required Licensing and Certifications
- Valid Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record
