Technical Machine Operator (Path to Technician 1)
2nd Shift |Monday - Friday | 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM | $20-$26/hr Shift Differential | Paid Technical Training
We are seeking mechanically experienced Machine Operators who want a clear, structured path into a Technician 1 role.
This position is designed for individuals who already have hands-on machine experience and are ready to grow into advanced setup, adjustment, and troubleshooting responsibilities.
This is not a basic “load-and-run” operator role.
About The Role
In this position, you will work hands-on with modern production equipment used to manufacture weatherstripping and specialty products. You will learn machine setup, process adjustments, and troubleshooting while working closely with maintenance and technicians.
Successful candidates are naturally curious, mechanically minded, and want to advance beyond basic operation.

Job Function
Our machine operators are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of equipment and processes utilized in the production of quality weather stripping/specialty products for our customers. Machine Operator I works closely and communicates with the technicians, supervisors, and other personnel as necessary to maintain continuous operation of the equipment and processes.
Upon successful completion of machine operator training, the operator's primary responsibility is to keep the machines accurately running. Upon learning advanced skills, will assist technicians to solve and troubleshoot issues, change over, and or equipment repairs.

- Perform machine setups, changeovers, and process adjustments
- Troubleshoot minor mechanical and process issues
- Support technicians during repairs and technical improvements
- Follow technical work instructions, safety, and quality standards
- Accurately record downtime, scrap, and production data

- Have strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on machine experience
- Have worked with extrusion, plastics, manufacturing equipment, or mechanical systems

Primary Responsibilities
Safety
- Follows all safety work practices as outlined in standard work procedures
- Supports plant or departmental safety initiatives
- Performs all quality inspections in accordance with standard work instructions
- Ensures product is within specification tolerances
- Completes inspection audit sheet or charting requirements
- Informs technician of quality issues on the production line
- Follows standard work for light priorities
- Set up and recalibrate production equipment according to GMPs and SOPs
- Notifies area technician of issues with the production lines to ensure prompt resolution
- Replenishes raw material supply on machines
- Removes finished product
- Makes minor adjustments to machines
- Performs minor repairs
- Records time and reason machine is out of operation
- Records time when the machine is back online
- Records repairs needed to machine
- Records amount and reason for scrap

- Productivity, ability to maintain assigned machines including material change times
- High School diploma, GED, or TASC preferred
- Must be able to read, understand, and successfully follow all requirements of safety, standard work/work instructions, and key quality metrics
- Basic math, reading, and writing skills required
- One-year manufacturing experience preferred
