The ideal candidate will have expertise in gas metal arc welding (GMAW/MIG) and Flux Core welding (FCAW), working with carbon steel materials. Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Combo MIG & Flux Core Welder to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in gas metal arc welding (GMAW/MIG) and Flux Core welding (FCAW), working with carbon steel materials. This role requires the ability to produce strong, durable welds while meeting project deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform MIG, FLUX welding on structural components and metal parts.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols for fabrication.
- Set up and operate welding equipment, making adjustments for different materials.
- Inspect welds for accuracy, strength, and structural integrity.
- Prepare metal surfaces by grinding, cutting, and cleaning before welding.
- Follow all safety protocols, including wearing PPE and maintaining a hazard-free work area.
- Work collaboratively with fabricators, engineers, and production staff.
- Routine maintenance and troubleshooting of welding equipment.
- High school diploma or GED required
- Proven experience as a MIG / FLUX welder (minimum 5 years preferred).
- Ability to work with thick metals and heavy-duty materials.
- Proficiency in using grinders, saws, and measuring tools.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints - REQUIRES STRUCTURAL FITTING
- Knowledge of welding safety standards and procedures.
- Welding certification (AWS, ASME) is a plus - must PASS 2 welding tests on plate steel , uphill 3G, Mig and Flux core process administered by hiring entity.
- Must have basic hand tools, welding hood, square, crescent wrench, ball peen hammer, tape measure, etc.
- Perform and understand basic math equations.
- Standing: Must be able to stand for extended periods (up to 8-10 hours per shift).
- Lifting: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly; occasionally lift heavier loads with assistance
- Bending & Stooping: Frequent bending, kneeling, and stooping to access work areas.
- Climbing: May be required to climb ladders or work on elevated surfaces.
- Repetitive Motions: Use of hands and arms in repetitive welding motions.
- Manual Dexterity: Fine motor skills for precise welding, handling tools, and operating equipment.
- Vision: Good hand-eye coordination and vision (corrective lenses allowed), including depth perception and peripheral vision.
- Hearing: Ability to hear warning signals and communicate effectively in a noisy environment.
- Endurance: Physically able to work in hot, dusty, and sometimes confined spaces for prolonged periods.
- Balance: Ability to maintain body equilibrium when performing tasks at heights or in awkward positions.
