Job Description Summary:
The Industrial Engineer applies core industrial engineering principles to optimize manufacturing performance through accurate work measurement, line balance, throughput analysis, and material flow design. This role leverages digital tools and manufacturing systems to analyze data, improve productivity, enhance ergonomics and safety, and support operational decision making. The Industrial Engineer leads and supports cross functional initiatives, coaches teams on standardized IE methods, and owns improvement projects from concept through sustained implementation—clearly connecting technical work to measurable business results and communicating effectively with plant leadership.
Industrial engineering fundamentals
- Work measurement & time studies (stopwatch, validation, standard work)
- Manpower/labor utilization model creation and ownership
- Line balancing, throughput improvement, and constraints/OEE analysis (APS, TIP/OEE, bottleneck analysis)
- Layout and material flow design (workstation design, conveyor/route planning, material delivery systems)
- Ergonomics and safety analysis (high-risk TIS, ergonomic assessments, lift assists, FSOT/observation procedures)
Technical / digital tools
- CAD tools: AutoCAD / FactoryCAD or similar for layouts and process design
- Data & BI tools: Advanced Excel, plus Power BI / Tableau for productivity and KPI tracking
- Manufacturing systems: plant MES and IE systems (e.g., GMOS, GMTKS, Global Workbook, APS/scrolling, DLA, SAP or equivalent)
Leadership, influence, and coaching
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams (operations, maintenance, quality, ME, HR)
- Experience coaching salary and hourly employees on IE methods and standardized work
- Ability to influence without authority—getting changes adopted on the floor and sustained
Project & change management
- Track record of owning projects end-to-end: charter, cost/benefit, timeline, execution, verification
- Experience with launches or major changes (new lines, model changes, large productivity or ergonomic projects)
- Familiarity with structured problem-solving / CI (8D, A3, DMAIC, or similar)
Communication & business acumen
- Can connect IE work to business results (labor, overtime, productivity, scrap, ergonomic risk, safety)
- Strong written and visual communication (clear decks, one-pagers, and board reviews)
- Comfortable presenting to plant leadership and defending analysis/assumptions
Additional Job Description:
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or similar
- 3 years of Industrial Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles
- Strong analytical mindset, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Ability to work in a collaborative, multi-cultural, team environment
Preferred:
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or similar field
- Ergonomic Experience
- Experience with Productivity, Standardized Work, and Time Studies
