Job Description

Operations Management

Direct daily operation of central cooling and heating plant systems to maintain certain laboratory environmental requirements of 23°C ± 2°C and 50% RH ± 5% RH.
Monitor and control HVAC systems through building automation platforms (Siemens, Allen Bradley; American AutoMatrix a plus) to ensure efficiency and reliability.
Ensure system performance aligns with corporate, regulatory, and safety requirements.

Team Leadership

Lead a 6-day-per-week HVAC operation spanning three shifts, including scheduling, coverage, and shift handoffs.
Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with team members to provide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback.
Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement within the team.

Responsibilities

Maintenance Program Oversight

Develop, schedule, and verify completion of preventive and predictive maintenance tasks, ensuring adherence to local and national codes.
Manage work order assignments, tracking, and closure through the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
Coordinate repairs, upgrades, and project activities with internal stakeholders and external contractors.

Reporting and Communication

Provide weekly updates to the Senior Facilities Manager on system status, maintenance activities, and project progress.
Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation to support operational decisions and compliance audits.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Facilities, Laboratory, and Operations teams to ensure environmental stability during concurrent projects.

Qualifications

Required:

Minimum 7 years of progressive HVAC experience, with 3 years in a supervisory or lead role.
Proven expertise in mechanical plant operations, including chilled water, hot water, and steam systems.
Strong working knowledge of laboratory HVAC requirements and best practices.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Performance Metrics

This is an Onsite position in our Northbrook location.

What we offer:

Total Rewards: We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The estimated salary range for this position is $70,000 and $85,000 and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 10% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country. We also provide full-time employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
