Position Summary
This position will serve as the outreach/ research coordinator for the three programs: 1) conduct worker health and safety training needs assessments; 2) develop partnerships with worker centers and other community based organizations; 3) attend community worker health and safety events to identify opportunities for research and training; 4)develop and evaluate worker health and safety educational interventions; 5) publication and dissemination of outreach materials for diverse audiences; 6) Assist Outreach Directors in setting strategic program and research goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
Collaborate with Principal Investigator, Center staff, researchers to develop objectives, implement protocols, evaluate results and design of research projects and proposals.
Oversee daily management of projects, track deliverables, and propose and implement changes as needed.
Performs complex data collection and study methods. Analyze and evaluate research results.
Prepare and contribute pertinent information for manuscripts, grants, presentations, and other documents. Assist Principal Investigators in grant and manuscript submission.
Maintain project information in appropriate format and databases.
Maintain Institutional Review Board and other regulatory requirements.
Maintain and update Center websites and listservs.
Guide, train, and advise lower level researchers, students and external partners on research techniques, methods, and procedures.
Assist with conference and professional development training.
Formulate and conduct research studies and analyses.
Replicate, refine and add new research approaches based on project needs. Test, customize and implement new methods and procedures.
Develop and write advanced, comprehensive protocols.
Monitor project developments on an ongoing basis. Propose and implement changes as needed.
Contribute material, prepare results and assist in the writing of research findings for publications, papers, presentations, grants, and other documents for publication.
Assist principal investigator in grant and manuscript submission.
Establish and maintain relationships with labor, community, and non— profit service organizations by participating in their boards, committees, task forces, initiatives, workshops, and events (virtual and in-person, when appropriate) to identify opportunities for strategic collaboration in research.
Develop, implement and evaluate curriculum/training interventions for diverse worker groups.
Provide technical assistance to government agencies, community organizations, students, and workers in research on emerging occupational health and environmental justice issues, government regulations (e.g. FF15).
Collaborate with community organizations, workforce development agencies, government agencies, on the design and implementation of research projects.
Monitor listservs and current events; disseminate relevant academic and community announcements to SPH listservs/networks, community partners.
Write/edit educational materials (e.g., news articles, website and social media posts, research briefs, policy briefs); adapt academic articles & power point presentations for general audience.
Coordinate, design, and facilitate conferences, meetings, workshops, trainings related to occupational and environmental health and safety issues in coordination with research and community partner.
