Position Summary
A Visiting Research Specialist (Policy Evaluation) will join the U.S. Food Policy Evaluation Project team, housed in the Division of Healthy Policy and Administration at the University of Illinois Chicago School of Public Health (SPH). This position will be part of a multi-disciplinary research team conducting evaluation studies of nutrition policies.
Duties & Responsibilities
Research (Policy Evaluation):
Assist in preparation of UIC Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions to ensure protection of human subjects.
Assist in the ongoing development and revision of research protocols and ensure all related research activities adhere to these protocols.
Manage study timeline and track deliverables as outlined in the scope of work.
Manage and train Graduate Research Assistants to perform the data collection and food and beverage coding (e.g., company and branding characteristics).
Assist with the implementation of recruitment strategies and track participants across study activities in accordance with UIC Institutional Review Board (IRB) approved processes.
Conduct other related research tasks including but not limited to undertaking data collection and coding, database programming, conducting literature reviews, and preparing materials to support presentations and other communications.
Communication:
Provide weekly project updates around timeline, deliverables, and challenges to supervisor.
Assist in ongoing development and revision of data collection training materials.
Contribute to project training materials, progress reports, and other project publications.
Staff Management:
Assist with the recruitment and hiring of Graduate Research Assistants to conduct data collection and data coding activities.
Lead training of Graduate Research Assistants to ensure strict adherence to data collection and coding and other research protocols.
Plan, assign, and review work of the assigned Research Assistants to ensure that the project's objectives are met. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
