Overview:
Qayaq Construction is seeking a General Laborer to support various physical tasks on construction sites. Responsibilities include site preparation and cleanup, trench digging, scaffolding setup, demolition, and debris removal. The role also involves loading and distributing materials, tools, and equipment to designated areas. May operate a range of hand and power tools such as air hammers, tampers, cement mixers, hoists, and measuring instruments. This position may also assist skilled trades and perform other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
Essential functions will include:
- Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate hazards.
- Erect and dismantle scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, and other temporary structures.
- Load, unload, and distribute building materials, tools, and machinery to appropriate locations.
- Measure, mark, and record layout dimensions for construction activities.
- Operate pumps, compressors, or generators to power tools, equipment, or move materials.
- Mix, pour, and spread concrete using portable cement mixers.
- Control and direct traffic around work zones.
- Dig trenches or ditches, backfill excavations, and compact or level earth using hand and pneumatic tools.

Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of general labor or construction experience.
Physical and Mental Demands:

- Frequent bending, squatting, crouching, crawling, and kneeling.
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and ramps safely.
- Prolonged standing for intervals of 2–3 hours.
- Work at various physical levels (waist, eye, overhead).
- Maintain balance on uneven surfaces and around obstacles.
- Sufficient handgrip strength and coordination to operate tools and equipment.
- Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with OSHA standards.
