Position Summary
The Audiology Specialist will diagnose and treat disorders of human hearing, balance and tinnitus in children and adults and provide treatment as needed. Advise colleagues on select cases, supervise Audiology graduate students, and develop programs in conjunction with Director of Speech Pathology, Audiology and Hospital Neurosciences. Participate in education of students, residents, physicians and health care professionals by developing education materials, presenting lectures and in-service education and speaking with community groups.

Minimum Qualifications
Certificate of Clinical Competency – Audiology (CCC-A), by time of hire
1-3 years experience in hospital-based Audiology and ENT clinic

Duties & Responsibilities
- Utilize appropriate diagnostic instruments and specialized tests to diagnose the nature of hearing disorders and interpret findings.
- Diagnose and treat patients that are referred to the specialist from the primary physician.
- Develop and administer a plan of care and formulate goals for future therapy sessions.
- Provide education and counseling to individuals with hearing disorders and their family members.
- Create home programs and instruct patients in the use of corrective techniques.
- Present lectures and in-service education for medical students, resident physicians, attending physicians, nurses and other health care professionals.
- Visit classrooms and community centers to assist on assessment, lessons in hearing and hearing disorders and mentor students.
- Identify and establish contact with accredited outside treatment and rehabilitation centers to increase the number of referral sources available to the Division of Audiology.
- Identify and create programs, processes and policies designed to improve the delivery of patient care.
- Assist in developing annual budget.
- Complete billing, productivity statistics, and special reports as needed.
- May perform research projects concerned with developing new clinical approaches or tools in accordance with areas of professional interest and expertise.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Audiology (AuD, PhD) from an accredited Audiology education program, by time of hire
- Illinois License in Audiology, by time of hire
