A great UHY client is seeking an Indirect Tax Analyst. The ideal candidate will have indirect tax compliance experience, multi-state sales tax filing experience, and strong analytical skills.
The Indirect Tax Analyst role is a onsite position. This is a temporary, contract position.
Indirect Tax Analyst Responsibilities
- Support indirect tax compliance activities across multiple jurisdictions.
- Reconcile, validate, and prepare sales tax data to support accurate and timely tax filings.
- Review tax returns and identify trends, discrepancies, and areas requiring further analysis.
- Assist with sales and use tax audits by gathering documentation and supporting audit responses.
- Respond to tax-related inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
- Research sales and use tax issues and communicate findings to management and business partners.
- Reconcile sales tax general ledger accounts and investigate variances.
- Maintain business licenses and registrations as required across applicable jurisdictions.
- Support exemption certificate management processes.
- Assist with maintaining tax systems and ensuring compliance with current tax regulations.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to improve tax processes and reporting.
- Support special projects and other tax-related initiatives as assigned.
Indirect Tax Analyst Requirements
- 3-5 years of indirect tax experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Strong knowledge of sales and use tax rules and regulations.
- Experience preparing and filing multi-state and local tax returns.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience reconciling general ledger accounts and analyzing financial data.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn new processes and systems.
- Experience with tax automation software, such as Vertex, is preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems, including Oracle Cloud, is a plus.
- Experience supporting sales and use tax audits is a plus.
