The Indirect Tax Analyst is an integral part of the overall Tax Team. They will be responsible for providing reliable, timely, and accurate tax information.
What You’ll Do
- Support the company’s indirect tax compliance across all nexus jurisdictions by reconciling, validating, and preparing sales data reports to ensure accurate, timely sales-tax filings.
- Analyze returns and communicate trends of inconsistences to the Manager.
- Manage sales tax audits efforts by supporting Senior Analyst with the coordination and the defense of sales and use tax audits.
- Respond to tax inquiries from internal/external sources. Communicate with in-house Customer Service to inform/educate of tax rate differences.
- Research taxability issues and effectively communicate findings to all parties involved including Tax Manager
- Reconcile sales tax general ledger accounts
- Maintain up to date business license applications with all jurisdictions where applicable
- Assist in developing exemption certificate management
- Assist Tax Manager with maintenance of tax engine to ensure compliance of sales tax laws
- Perform special projects as needed
- 3 – 5 years of indirect tax work experience needed. Bachelor’s degree in accounting is preferred
- Demonstrate problem solving skills. Possess a well-developed problem solving and technical sales tax skill-set
- Solid knowledge of sales tax rules and regulations
- Multi-State and Local Jurisdiction filing experience is needed
- Proficiency with Microsoft office tools including excel, word, & MS office
- Maintain an outstanding level of accuracy in performing all necessary duties
- Knowledge of Oracle ERP cloud base and vertex is a plus
- Basic understanding of general ledger account reconciliation
- Adaptable, being open to change in response to new information
- Experience with sales tax engine such as vertex is a plus
- Some sales/use tax audit experience is a plus
- Experience with accounting systems such as Oracle cloud based is a plus
