Data & AI Solution Architect
Position Summary:
The Data & Artificial Intelligence Solution Architect is responsible for the design, development, and operationalization of data, analytics, and AI solutions, including data models, pipelines, and reporting solutions. This role owns end-to-end technical vision and execution across UHA’s data and AI ecosystem and translates business strategy into secure, scalable, and production-grade solutions.
This position is both strategic and hands-on, responsible for implementing critical components, setting enterprise standards, and serving as the technical escalation point for data and AI initiatives.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Architecture & Technical Leadership
• Define and lead enterprise data and AI architecture, standards, and roadmaps
• Translate business needs into scalable technical solutions
• Lead architecture reviews and design decisions
Hands-On Development & Implementation
• Design and implement data pipelines, data models, and integrations
• Build and support AI/ML and analytics solutions
• Develop reusable frameworks and production-ready solutions
• Ensure code quality and engineering best practices
Data Engineering & Analytics
• Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines and reporting solutions
• Ensure data quality, reliability, and availability
• Maintain and enhance existing data assets
Data Governance & Modernization
• Support data governance, documentation, and standardization
• Lead migration from legacy systems to modern platforms
• Reduce redundancy and improve data architecture
AI & Advanced Analytics
• Design and implement AI/ML and GenAI solutions
• Support model lifecycle, governance, and monitoring
• Partner with business to deliver high-value AI use cases
Business & Vendor Collaboration
• Partner with stakeholders to define requirements and KPIs
• Evaluate vendors and support build vs. buy decisions
• Serve as a bridge between business and technical teams
Security & Compliance
• Ensure data security, privacy, and regulatory compliance
• Collaborate with IT and Security teams
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 7 years of experience in data analytics, data engineering, data governance, or related areas
• Experience designing and implementing data pipelines and data models
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in healthcare or regulated industries
• Experience with ETL/ELT tools and data warehousing concepts
• Strong SQL development skills (T-SQL, stored procedures, optimization)
• Experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, etc.)
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, Snowflake)
• Experience with scripting/programming (Python, PowerShell, etc.)
• Knowledge of data governance, Agile, and SDLC practices
Working Conditions:
• May require travel for meetings or training (Oʻahu or mainland)
• May require evenings or weekend work as needed
• May be eligible for hybrid/work-from-home (manager approval)
